Expert certain Steven Bergwijn is about to leave Tottenham after 'unexpected' development

Tottenham attacker Steven Bergwijn will sign for Ajax after they accepted a bid for Sebastien Haller.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

On Tuesday (21 June) Football Insider revealed Tottenham are in advanced talks with Ajax over a deal for Bergwijn though the club will not drop their £26million asking price.

As per Fabrizio Romano (22 June) Borussia Dortmund are set to sign Haller for €35million (£30.1m).

Wenham has previously expressed irritation at the Dutch club for failing to mett SPurs’ demands despite making plenty of money every season.

He is now expecting Spurs to make all of their money back on the Dutch winger.

“It sounds like Ajax have finally opened the moths out of their purse,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Despite every single summer, bringing in huge sums of money, claiming they have no money all the time.

“It seems like this unexpected jackpot sale of Haller will enable them to make a proper, reasonable, offer for Bergwijn.

“Hopefully we get all of our money back on him. He will move on.”

Bergwijn’s last Premier League start for Tottenham came on 23 January in a 2-0 loss to Chelsea.

He was regularly used off the bench in the second half in the 2021-22 season but rarely appeared for more than 15 minutes.
