Expert digs at ‘furious’ Daniel Levy over Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg-Newcastle update – ‘it’s all talk’

Tottenham will sell Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Newcastle despite Daniel Levy’s fury at last year’s takeover.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Toon’s summer plans.

On Tuesday (26 April), The Mirror claimed Newcastle are looking to sign Hojbjerg, 26, for £30million this summer.

The report also claims the Danish midfielder could be allowed to leave N17 if an appropriate offer comes in.

When Newcastle’s Saudi-backed takeover was completed in October, The Daily Mail reported (8 October) Spurs supremo Daniel Levy was “furious” and lead efforts to block the Magpies agreeing a lucrative new sponsorship deal.

In spite of this, Kenny insists Tottenham will sell to Newcastle if the money is right.

“It’s all about the money at the end of the day,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“If Sours want to get rid of Hojbjerg and Newcastle are the only club offering the money, they will sell, it’s as simple as that.

“You can talk about how you don’t like the takeover and how it might affect other clubs but I’m sure those clubs won’t turn down the money if it comes their way.

“Daniel Levy is the money man, he might be furious but it’s all talk, he might try and make Newcastle overpay but they aren’t stupid.

“Newcastle will walk away if he’s making ridiculous demands. So we will have to see with this one.

“But it’s not like Tottenham will never sell a player to Newcastle ever again, do you know what I mean? That’s not how football works.”

Hojbjerg has made 43 appearances in all competitions this season.

Newcastle are next in action against Liverpool on Saturday (30 April).
