Expert: Djed Spence will be next Tottenham signing after chairman update
Djed Spence will be the next signing at Tottenham after an update on negotiations.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
On 10 June, this site revealed Tottenham are in advanced talks to sign Spence, 21, from Middlesbrough.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Spurs are closing in on a breakthrough after intensifying their Spence pursuit in recent days.
As per Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas (21 June), Daniel Levy is personally leading talks with the defender as Fabio Paratici focuses on other targets.
Wenham is expecting Spence to become Spurs’ next signing.

“You have two incredibly stubborn chairmen there,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Steve Gibson is at the other end of Daniel Levy now and they both want what is best for their football clubs.
“They both want to get the best deal [possible for their clubs and I do expect this deal to get done.
“There are reports that the player only has eyes for Tottenham and a move back to London.
“He came through the academy at Fulham and I have always said that would stand in our stead if other clubs are interested.
“He looks an outstanding prospect and he’s now on holiday but I think he will be Tottenham’s next signing.”
Spence has enhanced his reputation over the last year while playing an instrumental role in Nottingham Forest’s successful promotion push.
He made 40 league starts among 50 appearances in all competitions during 2021-22, and started all their play-off wins.
