Expert: Emerson Royal has saved his Tottenham career after ‘amazing’ thing I’ve seen
Emerson Royal may have saved his Tottenham career after impressing in his last two outings.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Royal, 23, played the full 90 minutes in wins over Arsenal and Burnley as Spurs boosted their hopes of finishing the top four.
The Brazil international has been criticised since moving to N17 in the summer of 2021.
Wenham has even claimed (2 May) he could be sold this summer as he hadn’t shown he was good enough for the Premier League.
However, he now claims he can stay at the club if these impressive performances continue.
“I want to give credit to Emerson Royal,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I have moaned about him so much this season and I still think I was right to.
“But he has stepped up massively in the next two games. I think he has found confidence in himself.
“Yesterday he had this amazing shot from miles out and Nick Pope had to tip it over for a corner. I don’t think he would have attempted that a few weeks ago.
“He has really come into his own. If he could turn a corner and become a decent signing for us, allowing him to not need to sign a replacement this summer, that would be fantastic for all concerned.
“He is still young and he’s a Brazil international. The last two games have shown a real improvement from him.”

Emerson has made 30 Premier League appearances this season.
He has scored once.
In other news, a £50million-plus-valued Tottenham star is set to be made to train on his own this summer.
