Expert: Hugo Lloris has played his last game for Tottenham with replacement ‘on the way’
Hugo Lloris may have played his last game for Tottenham after making another game-costing mistake.
That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Lloris, 36, made another high-profile mistake in Sunday’s (15 January) North London Derby, pushing Bukayo Saka’s cross into his own net under little pressure.
Wenham claims Spurs now cannot hesitate to bring in a new stopper.
“I love Hugo Lloris, he’s one of my favourite ever Tottenham players but he is costing us on a weekly basis,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“It’s just unacceptable now. The one against Arsenal, there is an argument to be made about why Saka was allowed to cross it in.
“But even so, for Lloris to palm that into his own net, unchallenged, is so poor. It really is. I get that over the last few weeks we have seen more mistakes but even until last week, I would have said we could keep Lloris until the end of the season.
“I can’t keep saying that and keep making excuses for him if he is costing us on a weekly basis. Premier League stats tell you that the team who scores first wins the game 60% or so of the time.
“It’s such a pivotal goal and Lloris has just thrown it into the net. Tottenham do now have to proceed with signing a new goalkeeper, ther has to be someone on the way.
“This can’t carry on and it’s a real shame because Hugo has done so much for the club and I rate him so highly.

“It’s a shame it’s turned this way but we can’t have a goalkeeper who is costing up. It’s five individual errors that has lead to goals this season.
“It can’t keep going.”
In other news, an expert has told Tottenham to U-turn on Brentford’s David Raya and sign 22-year-old instead after update.
