Expert: Liverpool could complete surprise signing ‘we don’t know about’ after update

Liverpool could make a signing “we don’t know about” before the end of the summer transfer window.

That’s according to former Aston Villa and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Reds’ transfer business.

According to the Liverpool Echo‘s Theo Squires (19 June), the signing of Calvin Ramsay, 18, marks the conclusion of the Reds’ summer transfer business.

Ramsay became Liverpool’s third arrival of the summer, following the arrivals of Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho from Benfica and Fulham respectively.

However, McLeish claims the Reds could announce a surprise signing before the end of the summer.

“Nothing surprises me with Liverpool,” McLeish told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“They are very organised in their recruitment. With Diaz, nobody heard anything until it was basically done and he signed the next day.

“Their conduct their business pretty well. They must feel they have the resources there, whether it is up front or in midfield, to keep going.

“Mane has gone, it’s the end of an era. We will see if anything happens but what they are good at is when you think nothing is happening at Anfield, something happens.

“We don’t know about it. That seems to be the policy. If they start the season without another signing then I think you then have to see what happens in January.”

Sadio Mane joined Bayern Munich on 22 June.

Mohamed Salah will be staying at the club after agreeing a new deal which was announced on Friday (1 July).
