Expert: ‘Top players’ could follow Jesse Lingard to Nottingham Forest after confirmed news
Kevin Campbell has suggested Jesse Lingard’s arrival will help Nottingham Forest attract more “top players” to the club.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Forest and Arsenal striker said the 29-year-old’s capture takes Steve Cooper’s side “to another stratosphere.”
On 21 July, Nottingham Forest confirmed the signing of Lingard on a one-year deal.
The attacking midfielder moves to the City Ground on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract at Old Trafford.
The 32-times England international is the 11th signing of the summer for Steve Cooper’s side.
When asked by Football Insider if Lingard’s arrival could have an impact on Forest’s future transfer business, Campbell said:
“I’m sure there is a lot of top players looking at Forest now and thinking, wow, this club is going places.
“They had made some good signings but Lingard is a level above. It takes them to another stratosphere.
“You see the hatred that comes with signing Lingard. People were making crazy comments about him. They were saying he was going to be remembered for Tik Tok or whatever. It is a welcome to the Premier League moment for Forest.

“They have signed a star who is an England international, who has won trophies with Man United. He has done it for club and country.
“Forest are going about their business really well. Everybody is doing a great job so far.”
