Expert: Tottenham about to make 'big changes' at Hotspur Way as multiple players set to leave

Tottenham will begin a mass overhaul of their academy during the January transfer window.

That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Tottenham’s Under-21 side are having a poor season, so far failing to win in the Premier League 2.

The club’s Under-19 side also only managed one win during their UEFA Youth League campaign despite having facilities that are far superior to the teams in their group.

Wenham insists a major restructuring of the academy is due and claims it could come as soon as January.

“I think the restructure, in terms of academy players at the club, could start as early as January,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I suspect we will see a number of academy players either leave on loan or permanently. Those who are not up to it and are not being selected, I can see them being moved on ahead of their contracts expiring in the summer.

“I think we are going to revamp the Under-21 side in January to give ourselves the best possible chance of finishing the season strongly at that level.

“Big changes are coming, make no mistake about that, it’s just a matter of when and I think January might be the right time to start doing it.

Spurs’ Under-21 side most recently lost 3-0 to Chelsea on Monday (7 November).

They are next in action against West Ham’s Under-21s on Friday (11 November).

In other news, a pundit has backed Tottenham to complete two ‘big’ signings in January as a mass exodus is on the cards.
