Expert: Tottenham may sack Antonio Conte before Man City clash as showdown talks predicted

Tottenham could part ways with Antonio Conte before Thursday’s (19 January) game against Manchester City,

That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Tottenham suffered a first home loss to Arsenal in nine years on Sunday (15 January).

Mikel Arteta’s side blew Spurs away in the first half and won the game 2-0, condemning Spurs to a fourth defeat in their last five home games.

Wenham claims Spurs could now cut ties with Conte if he refuses to commit to the club in the coming days.

“The club need to sit down with the manager and the first step has to be if they are going to back him,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“If they are, then make the signings. If they aren’t going to, then they should get rid of him and bring a new manager in.

“People might say it will waste time to get a new manager in. Let’s get one thing straight, managers have dossiers on clubs they want to manage.

“They have agents who know which jobs they will be interested in. It’s not as though these managers would come in and not know what they were doing.

“They watch games, they keep up to date, they know what is going on at the club. There needs to be a discussion about Conte.

“There needs to be a conversation with Levy, Paratici, Conte and the recruitment team where they basically say, sign the contract so we know you are committed and we will back you.

“If not, then they need to cut ties with him and go in a different direction. It doesn’t take us long to get new managers other than the disastrous Nuno appointment.

“Mourinho and Conte both came in less than a day after the previous managers left.”

In other news, an expert has told Tottenham to U-turn on Brentford’s David Raya and sign 22-year-old instead after update.
