'Tinge of disappointment' - Martin makes admission about Rangers win v Ross County

Rangers defender Russell Martin has insisted the Gers’ players are all “extremely happy” to have picked up their second win in 2018 when they eased past Ross County 2-1 on Sunday.
The Gers picked up three points in Dingwall through goals from Daniel Candeias and Jason Cummings to take them back into second in the Scottish Premiership after the midweek win over then-second-placed Aberdeen.
The 32-year-old made his second start for the Gers after his move from Norwich City in the win over Owen Coyle’s side as he continues to settle in to his new surroundings.
Martin revealed the players were also a “tinge” disappointed with their second-half performance as they lost the intensity that saw them dominate the first 45 minutes.
“We are all extremely happy to back the Aberdeen game up with another good result. There is a tinge of disappointment about the second half performance at times as we were a little bit open and a little bit disjointed,” Martin said, as quoted by the club’s official website.
“But, in the first half, we played some really good stuff and the only disappointment coming in was we didn’t have more goals to kill the game a bit earlier.
“But, I think we have to be delighted. The manager challenged us before the game to back up the result against Aberdeen and the standard we set.
The Gers now face a return north on Wednesday night to face Highland League minnows Fraserburgh at tiny Bellslea Park in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup in a rearranged tie.
Martin – and all of the Gers other new signings this month – are likely to start against the Broch as manager Graeme Murty looks to get them up to full speed as quickly as possible.
The winners of Wednesday’s tie will be rewarded with a trip to face Ayr United in the fifth round of the competition at Somerset Park next month.
