FA alerted to ‘blistering’ ex-Arsenal ace for England after Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly

Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly’s recent Arsenal form has put them in the reckoning for the England side but a former Gunner has also emerged as a surprise possibility, according to The Mail.

Ethan Nwaneri has been backed by Wayne Rooney to break into the England senior set-up, and the 17-year-old could be included in Thomas Tuchel’s first squad.

Alongside him, Myles Lewis-Skelly may also be in line to receive a call-up to the national team, as both Hale End graduates have impressed for Arsenal this season.

Despite losing Bukayo Saka to a hamstring injury, and summer signing Riccardo Calafiori having fitness issues, the two youngsters have stepped up and performed superbly in place of the established stars.

Mika Biereth on The FA’s radar after England eligibility emerges

The FA have been alerted to Mika Biereth’s eligibility to play for England, as the striker was born in London, report The Mail.

The Monaco striker joined the Ligue 1 club from Sturm Graz in January, and has already scored 10 goals in seven games for his new club, with his “blistering” form including three hat-tricks in that time.

The striker came through Fulham’s academy, before joining Arsenal in 2021, but failed to make a senior appearance for the Gunners.

Biereth currently represents Denmark, having made appearances for their U19 and U21 teams, but is eligible for England, Bosnia and Germany, thanks to his parents heritage, and being born in England.

Despite being on The FA’s radar, the striker is expected to continue playing for Denmark at this stage, but his goal-scoring exploits have not gone unnoticed.

Mika Biereth would struggle to become an England regular

Football Insider Verdict

Biereth has slowly made his way onto the European scene, but is now flourishing at Monaco.

The striker spent time on loan at RKC Waalwijk in the Netherlands, Motherwell, and Sturm Graz in Austria, before leaving Arsenal permanently.

At 22-years-old, the striker has blossomed into a guaranteed goal-getter, but even if The FA managed to convince the Monaco man to switch allegiances, his game time would be limited.

Newcastle target Harry Kane and Arsenal target Ollie Watkins are both world-class strikers, and likely to be relied upon heavily be Tuchel.

After those two, Marcus Rashford is finding form at Aston Villa, and may be in line for an England recall, after missing Euro 2024.

Dominic Solanke is also having a solid season at Tottenham, whilst Ivan Toney remains an option.
