Aston Villa fans name manager they want to replace Di Matteo on Twitter
By Will Butcher
Aston Villa fans are desperate to see the return of Tim Sherwood, after it was reported that Roberto Di Matteo could face the sack in the next 48 hours.
The Sun claim that the Italian is reportedly set to be the first victim of owner Tony Xia’s Aston Villa reign, after just one win in 12 league and cup encounters.
Fans are keen to see the return of Tim Sherwood, after the 47-year-old was sacked less than 12 months ago following a poor start to Villa’s season that ultimately saw the club get relegated.
The likes of Bristol City’s Lee Johnson and Steve Bruce are also in the mix to replace Di Matteo, as the Championship pauses for two weeks to make way for the international break.
Fans would be delighted with the reappointment of Sherwood, with a lot of Sherwood’s signings still with the Midlands giants.
Here are a selection of Villa fans’ tweets:
@Dr_TonyXia Tim Sherwood got us out of the mess Lambert left us in and took us to a final now he can do the same should RDM leave #AVFC

With the former Premier League outfit sitting in 19th place and just two points above the Championship drop zone, Di Matteo is likely to be axed after just 122 days.
