‘Perfect leader’, ‘Born winner’ – Rangers fans react as Championship enforcer announces exit
John Terry has announced that he won’t be re-joining Aston Villa for another season after his side failed to win promotion through the Championship play-offs last week.
Talking to the BBC, Terry said, “I will look back on my time here and think about how close we were to reaching our goal.”
However, the 37-year-old has not said that he’s retiring from playing and football fans have been speculating that he could come north of the border to hook up with Steven Gerrard.
Some Rangers fans think this is unlikely, with one person saying at odds of 9/1, if you bet £1 on it happening, you’d lose £1.
However, others would love him to sign for Steven Gerrard, with one fan saying that he’s a “perfect leader” and a “born winner”.
Terry delivered for Aston Villa last season – he might not be at the peak of his game anymore, but he proved he had enough for the Championship.
And he would still have at least a year left in the tank at Premiership level.
If he did join Rangers it would be one of the most talked-about deals of the summer and would shine an even bigger spotlight on Scottish football.
