'No place in our club', 'Disgrace' – Rangers fans rage after official club comments
Rangers director Alastair Johnston scored an own goal with Rangers fans everywhere when he said in an interview that the club was ahead of where they should be.
Talking in the The Scottish Sun, Johnston said: “You have to look back. The fans have been terrific, as I would have expected them to be, to hang in there and hopefully they will be rewarded.
“In terms of looking forward from where we were four or five years ago at the bottom, the progress that has been gradually made, we are probably ahead of the curve in reality if we finish second or third.”
He probably meant well, but these words went down like a bucket of hot lead on the heads of loyal Rangers fans.
It’s been a season of turmoil that promised light at the end of the tunnel, but ultimately snatched it away with the heavy 4-0 defeat in the Scottish Cup semi-final.
Speculation over the manager’s position, and suspensions to Kenny Miller and Lee Wallace, have meant the season has ended in farce, and the runner-up spot in the Premiership is still not guaranteed.

Rangers fans aren’t interested in third place being ahead of the curve, and want answers to their questions and a strategy for getting the club back on top.
Here are the best reactions from thoroughly hacked off Rangers fans to Johnston’s interview:
What’s worrying is I was genuinely excited that AJ was back on board considering his links in America. All it proves is how out of touch he is

Anyone within our club from Youth to Chair & including all our loyal supporters who is willing to settle for anything less than winning has no place in our club. Don’t come back at me about “where we are” it’s about drive, desire, attitude, passion, positivity #NoSurrender

Shows just how out of touch this board have actually become from the support. Sunday will be very interesting to say the least.

AJ is usually the one who talks sense but that interview last night left more questions than answers. Disappointing!

Seems like some on our board are happy to finish 4th

If these are the majority of views from board members and directors then god knows where this will lead..no proper leadership and standards…ahead of the curve there so far out if realism with the fans and there standards it's unreal

Isn't saying we are ahead of the curve, the same as being back at the beginning, I'm just imaging a circle by him saying that…. pic.twitter.com/IMjweAyySR

I thought highly of Alastair Johnston before yesterday's comments…

I’ve always liked AJ, usually a voice of reason… but that’s miles off. To be frank our budget completely dwarfs our immediate rivals and this should reflect on and off the park. To even be mentioning 3rd place shows the slipping of our standards. Not good enough.

100%. To think the board have also advertised season tickets with going for 55 is a huge contradiction.
They just want the money. They don't care about the football or the fans.
Disgrace. No one should be allowed more than a year in there position.— Dougie Don (@dougiethedon) April 20, 2018
Just when this week couldn’t get anymore embarrassing ????
