'Announce P45', 'Get rid' - Leeds fans react to stunning Berardi comments
By Richard Parks
Gaetano Berardi has revealed that he “doesn’t care” what Andrea Radrizzani has to say – and Leeds United fans are none too impressed with his attitude.
The United owner went public with his anger at the Leeds squad this week, accusing them of letting the club down in an outspoken and brutal verdict of their shortcomings.
Radrizzani pointed the finger at the United players who were handed long-term contracts last year and, although he did not name them, it was clear he was referring to the likes of Berardi, who was rewarded with a three-year extension last August that runs until 2020.
Asked at the Leeds media conference on Thursday what he thought of the owner’s attack, Berardi insisted the players hadn’t spoken about it and he didn’t have any interest in it, either.
“Speaking with my team-mates, no-one said anything about it,” Berardi said, as quoted by the personal Twitter account of Yorkshire Evening Post correspondent Phil Hay. “We don’t care about what he says. If I have to say something to him, I speak with him, not here.”

Leeds fans on social media were stunned at what they felt was a disrespectful stance from the one-time Switzerland international, 29,
Berardi is a firm favourite for his no-holds-barred playing style, but many felt he had crossed a line by his ‘don’t care’ attitude.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
He pays you’re wages BUD he ENTITLED I’d keep stum if I were you

No worry at all. If they don’t respect the owner and/or club, get rid. Counts for every one of them.

Totally taken the wrong way.Think he means the players aren’t going to let it get them down!He even said if he had a problem with anything he’d take it up with the owner direct. He said they made mistakes and need to concentrate on the next game.Obviously a language barrier issue

Berardi could turn my tele off mid-watch and I’d still love him!!! #lufc

Maybe they should care? Maybe that’s the bloody problem! Complete lack of respect from half of them for the great club they are playing for. More Forshaw types please, who actually get it.

In other Leeds United news, it can be revealed that the club have launched a bid to sign a Premier League centre-forward in the form of his life.
