'Brilliant', 'What a time to be alive' – Leeds fans drool over one player after U23 heroics
Leeds Under-23 side beat Bristol City 4-0 on Monday night and left-back Tyler Denton won all the plaudits after grabbing a late brace.
An own goal from Bristol City and a strike from Sam Dalby had given Leeds a deserved 2-0 lead, before Denton finished off two assists from Madger Gomes.
He’s the second left-back to have made an impact this season and he might consider himself unlucky to be playing at the same time as Tom Pearce, who has already made his way up to the senior team and scored his first goal in the 2-1 win over Barnsley.
One fan said that Denton deserved his own run-out in the first team before the end of the season – and with nothing to play for, manager Paul Heckingbottom might well give him a tryout.
Another said that despite some shocking signings for the first team, Victor Orta had brought some amazing youngsters through into the Under-23s.
Here are the best reactions to his fantastic brace last night:
Well done to Leeds United U23's. a 4-0 win and Tyler Denton grabbing TWO goals. Who would have thought it? Brilliant! #MOT

Just watched the U23s vs Bristol City on LUTV. Refreshing to watch, played good football. Dalby, Denton, Clarke and Rey catch the eye. No histrionics, very professional #LUFC #MOT #LUTV pic.twitter.com/Y1NIlVxQjW

I been thinking a while that denton needs a run out in the 1st team

As scary as Orta has been sjgning first team players… This crop of youth players is something else… BPF, Denton, Pearce, O'Connor, Rey, Clarke, Hossanah, Dalby, Sarkic and Struijk could all be in and around the first team next season #lufc

The finish was nice but the energy and drive to get in to the box is fantastic

IMO, we don’t need to sign a left back if we have Pearce and Denton, focus on other weak areas

Rey, Clarke, Denton, Stevens, Diaz, Dalby and Hosannah standing out tonight.
5 of the 7 were brought in by Orta. #lufc

Really happy for Tyler Denton. Works extremely hard every game and he’s played brilliantly tonight. I wrote him off a month or so back but there’s no reason he can’t challenge Pearce for that left back spot #lufc
