England put in another five-star display as they thumped Montenegro 5-1 to make it two wins out of two in Euro 2020 qualifiers and provide further evidence that the future shines bright for the national side. Gareth Southgate’s side went behind at the Podgorica City Stadium, but goals from Ross Barkley (two), Michael Keane, Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling made it a night to savour for the travelling fans. Southgate made a few alterations to the XI that demolished the Czech Republic on Friday night, with Danny Rose preferred to Ben Chilwell at left-back. The Tottenham man, bizarrely overlooked in favour of Ashley Young at the World Cup last summer, played well until a moment in the second half when he lost the ball and Adam Marusic should have scored. But Rose looked full of energy and something closer to the marauding left-back who had no equal in the Premier League before his shattering knee injury two seasons ago. Many England fans were, however, less than impressed and believe Chilwell has now leapfrogged him in the pecking order.
