Jackie McNamara has tipped new Celtic signing Greg Taylor to quickly establish himself as a favourite among the Parkhead faithful after joining from Kilmarnock.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops star says that the 21-year-old is technically gifted and that his impressive work ethic should help endear him to the fans in Glasgow.
Taylor swapped Killie for Celtic in a late transfer deal, giving manager Neil Lennon another option on the left-hand side of the defence after the departure of Kieran Tierney and the arrival of Boli Bolingoli.
McNamara says that the young full-back has a lot to offer the Hoops’ first-team and that Celtic’s domination of the ball in domestic football will help bring the best out of him.
McNamara told Football Insider: “The fans will really like him. He gets stuck in, he’s tenacious.
“He defends well and he can play – he’ll find it a lot easier. No disrespect to the Kilmarnock players but Celtic will have the ball most of the game compared to them. Guys like McGregor, they’ll carry the ball, and he can overlap, get in behind and whip some balls in.”
Despite being just 21-years-old, Taylor has already played 131 times for Kilmarnock’s first-team, 112 of those coming in the league and the Premiership play-offs.
He has scored just one goal to date, coming in a 5-0 win over Hamilton back in March, while he has 10 assists to his name.
