Celtic 27-year-old must grasp rare opportunity against Partick

COMMENT
The news that Leigh Griffiths has recovered from the ankle injury that kept out of Celtic’s win over Brechin and that he is in the squad for the match against Partick Thistle has come at an interesting time.
The Scotland international hasn’t featured for the Hoops as often as he’d like this season, due to injury and squad rotation. He has only started three of the Hoops last 10 league games, scoring two goals in that time.
Brendan Rodgers has gone with either Moussa Dembele or loan signing Odsonne Edouard as the lone striker at times as he searches for his best front man.
However, with Hoops assistant Chris Davies all but admitting that Dembele is set to leave the club in the January transfer window, Griffiths has the chance to prove that he should be the number one striker at the club.
We should get an indication of how the club feels about Griffiths when the team is announced for the game against Partick.
If the 27-year-old starts the game, then he should be in pole position to be the main striker when Dembele leaves. However, if Edouard is chosen for the game against the Jags, then Griffiths faces another battle to convince Rodgers of his worth.
In other Celtic news, the Hoops will face a battle if they want to sign Dundee’s Jack Hendry
