Lucas Perez will leave Arsenal in a deadline deal to rejoin former Spanish club Deportivo La Coruña, according to a report.
The Evening Standard claims that the North London club have reached an agreement with the La Liga side to send the 28-year-old out on a season-long loan.
The newspaper reports that the Spanish outfit are not obliged to sign the striker on a permanent deal at the end of his loan spell.
The report claims that Deportivo managed to convince the Gunners to offload the Spaniard after they refused their asking price of £13.8million for the striker.
Before securing a permanent deal to the Emirates Stadium last summer, Perez was the main man at Deportivo, contributing with 19 goals and 11 assists in all competitions during the 2015-16 campaign.
The Spaniard was unable to prove himself in England last season as he spent the majority of the campaign as a fringe player at the Emirates Stadium.
Perez still managed to produce eight goals and six assists for the Gunners in all competitions last season.
However, the striker has yet to feature in any of the team’s opening matches of the new campaign but he now looks set for a reunion with his beloved Deportivo
Football Insider verdict
This is a deal that has been coming for quite a long time now and both clubs will surely be relieved that they have reached an agreement. Arsenal will no doubt be slightly disappointed that they were unable to recoup the £17million in which they spent on the player last summer but if he manages to replicate his fine form in Spain, Deportivo might table a substantial offer next season. Perez will be delighted to be returning to his former club and they will be happy to receive him as they have failed to win their opening two La Liga matches this season.
