Rangers are due to fly out to the USA next week to participate in the Florida Cup and it gives Graeme Murty and his backroom staff a real chance to work with the players with a little bit more time to drill into them what is expected in the second-half of the season.
Games against Brazilian giants Atletico Mineiro and Corinthians should provide a good test for Murty’s side but it’s the time on the training ground that will be the biggest benefit to the Gers.
Since Murty took the reins the Gers have faced a fairly hectic schedule with little time to spend serious time working on some of the kinks in the Light Blues’ style of play and get everyone pulling in the right direction.
With news signings almost certain to be arriving soon too, it’s going to give the Gers a chance to get to know Murty, his staff and any new players a little bit better away from the usual surroundings of Ibrox or Auchenhowie.
It’s also going to give some of the Gers more recent signings an opportunity to play and train in a climate a little more in keeping with what they were accustomed to before swapping Guadalajara for Govan.
It’s unlikely to be the silver bullet to all of Rangers’ problems but it could certainly go a long way to fixing a few of the on-the-pitch issues they have currently.
