Football Insider pundit Noel Whelan has been left drooling over Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo as he makes an exciting prediction for the club for the summer and next season.
The Molineux outfit look set to finish the season as best of the rest outside the Premier League’s top six, just a year after winning the Championship title and securing promotion, and Whelan is expecting them to go from strength to strength yet again.
The likes of Raul Jimenez, Diogo Jota, Ruben Neves and Matt Doherty have all played starring roles during Wolves’ successful season, which also saw them reach the semi-finals of the FA Cup as well as impressing in the top flight.
With mega-rich owners, Whelan is predicting that Wolves are going to strengthen even more over the summer and that next season is going to see them continue their rise up the division.
“They’re only going to get better and bigger and stronger, aren’t they?” Whelan exclusively told Football Insider.
“They’ve bought great players to get them out the Championship, they’ve kept that core of players knowing that they can do a job in the Premier League. They’re all internationals pretty much, well organised, great manager. He’s got loads of passion, you can see that goes onto the field with the players as well.
“They’re well balanced, they’re well organised, attacking in the right areas, always trying to score goals but they’ve got that defensive side to them now where everyone’s working as a team. They’re going to be a real force to be reckoned with next season. I think they can still go better and bigger.”
Nuno arrived at Molineux after a spell at Portuguese giants Porto, where he was manager for just under a year, and has an impressive record of 1.88 points per game during his time in England.
