3. Igor Stepanovs – £1.4million, From Skonto Riga 2000

Stepanovs first Premier League game for Arsenal was a promising one.

The defender, signed after an injury to Tony Adams, didn’t keep a clean sheet but was part of the team that recorded a 6-1 win over Leicester in December 2000.

Unfortunately, two months later he found himself on the other side of a 6-1 scoreline at Old Trafford.

The 6-1 defeat was a shocker and Stepanovs was a causality.

He left on loan in 2003 for KSK Beveren and eventually left on a free transfer to Grasshoppers after making just 17 appearances.
