Forget Edwards, these are next three Tottenham academy diamonds destined for first team

Oliver Skipp

This time last year, everyone was talking about Edwards behind the scenes at Spurs. Now, it is technically gifted and tenacious midfield anchorman Skipp who is the name on everyone’s lips. He played 18 games for Tottenham’s Under-18s last season and he even got on as a substitute for the Under-23s in February – all this while he was still a schoolboy. This season he has stepped again up to become a regular at Under-23 level, making 16 appearances in total, and the overall impression is of a player who is mature beyond his years. A firm favourite of the club’s head of player development, John McDermott and Under-18s coach Scott Parker, Skipp only turned 17 in mid-September and, if he maintains his startling progress, it would be no surprise to see him named in matchday squads for the Spurs senior side for cup and minor Champions League fixtures next season.
In other Tottenham news, a sensational swap deal with fourth-placed club is on the cards in a shock development.
