'Forgot he was still our player' - Celtic fans react as attacker set to depart club

Celtic fans on social media have been giving their verdict on the Hoops career of Nadir Ciftci, who is set to leave the club on the 30th of June after three seasons in Glasgow.

The news was announced a short time ago on the Hoops official website.

Most fans seemed pleased that the player was going to be moved off the wage bill after three poor years with the club, whilst many fans seemed to forget that the 26-year-old was still at the club after spending so much time on-loan with other teams.

Other fans hoped that Citfci’s departure could lead to the arrival of Odsonne Edouard on a permanent basis or even a shock return for Patrick Roberts.

Here are some of the best reactions from Twitter to the news that Ciftci will be leaving the club at the end of the month:

Ciftci joined the club from Dundee United in 2015, but failed to really make the breakthrough needed to become a permanent member of the Hoops side.

He has spent most of the last two seasons out on loan, and spent last season at both Plymouth and Motherwell.

It will be intriguing to see what Ciftci does next, as he is still young enough to have a career at a decent level of football, but he was never going to make it at Celtic Park.
