With James Forrest speaking of his desire to stay at Celtic for the rest of his career, now seems the right time for the player to be awarded a new and improved contract.
Forest revealed that he would like to spend as long as possible at Parkhead after making a brilliant start to the season before the winter break.
While the 26-year-old did sign a three year deal in August 2016, since then his form has improved leaps and bounds.
It’s no coincidence that the Scotland international has improved as a player since Brendan Rodgers took over at Celtic, he seems to have given the player the confidence that he had at times lacked since first bursting into the first-team in 2010.
The first-half of this season has been Forrest’s best with the Bhoys, as he helped himself to 13 goals, which is his best ever total for a season and he seems well on the way to hit the 20 goal mark, which is a good achievement for a winger.
Forrest has arguably been the Hoops’ best player this season, and his fine performances have kept the likes of Jonny Hayes and Patrick Roberts out of the side.
As one of the forerunners to be named player of the year Forrest deserves his form to be honoured with a new deal which should keep him with the Scottish champions for many years to come.
