Former Liverpool favourite Dietmar Hamann did not taking kindly to it being pointed out that Emre Can had already scored the same amount of goals he had.
A Liverpool fan tweeted the statistic that after Can’s goal against Maribor on Wednesday night, he has now scored a total of 11 goals for the club.
This meant that the German international had now scored the same amount as previous Reds star and compatriot Hamann in 140 less games.
The 44-year-old responded to the fan tweeting the following back:

He also won 8 trophies less in 140 fewer matches https://t.co/5HQtcV7tuB

While the comment could be taken as tongue-in-cheek, it certainly split the Liverpool fanbase.
Some replied in a negative manner towards the former player, while others sung his praises:
You didn't personally win those trophies, the team did.

Hamann played 271 times for the Reds and alongside scoring his 11 goals, he grabbed five assists. It’s worth noting that he was utilised as a defensive midfielder regularly for Liverpool.
The retired midfielder hung up his boots in 2011, finishing his career at MK Dons in League One.
Can has featured 14 times for the Reds already this season, across all competitions, scoring three goals and registering two assists.
