Frank Lampard in running for top Premier League job amid latest sack news
Frank Lampard could be about to make his return to Premier League management in the coming weeks.
The ex-Chelsea and Everton boss has been away from top-flight dugouts since his caretaker stint at Stamford Bridge came to a close back in 2023.
Lampard is now in charge of Coventry City, and he has overseen a remarkable turnaround in the Sky Blues’ fortunes since his arrival in November 2024.
The 47-year-old arrived with the Midlands outfit languishing in 17th in the Championship after their play-off final defeat to Luton the year before, but he now has them flying high at the top of the table.
His work at Coventry was always likely to attract attention from above, and now it finally appears that a Premier League giant could be set to come calling for him.

Frank Lampard among favourites to take over at West Ham
Nuno Espirito Santo has continued to struggle at West Ham, and the odds for him to be sacked have been slashed in the aftermath of their 1-0 defeat at home to Fulham on Saturday.
The Portuguese is now the third-favourite to become the next top-flight boss to lose his job, and that could potentially come in the next few weeks, with seismic clashes against Wolves and Nottingham Forest on the horizon in the New Year.
The bookies are already speculating as to who could be in line to take Nuno’s place in the dugout at the London Stadium, and Lampard has emerged as one of the early favourites for the job.
| Manager | Odds |
| Slaven Bilic | 2/1 |
| Gary O’Neil | 9/2 |
| Michael Carrick | 8/1 |
| Frank Lampard | 10/1 |
| Ole Gunnar Solskjaer | 10/1 |
One major bookie has the former England international priced at odds of 10/1, making him the fourth-favourite at the moment.

Former West Ham hero Slaven Bilic is currently the early leader at odds of 2/1, while Gary O’Neil and Michael Carrick are also seen as contenders.
Lampard’s relationship with the West Ham fans
Lampard has been linked with several Premier League jobs of late, but West Ham would arguably be one of the more curious potential moves for him.
The former midfielder came through the academy ranks of the East London outfit at the start of his playing career, but he quickly soured his reputation with the Hammers faithful by moving to Chelsea, where he became a legend.
Lampard has never truly been forgiven in E20, and it would certainly not be the unifying appointment that is needed at West Ham, given their current predicament.
A Premier League move feels inevitable for the Coventry boss at some stage in the coming months, but it would be a major shock if he opted to make such a risky switch right now.
