'Another massive step in the right direction' – Leeds fans react to crowd favourite signing new deal

By Harry Sykes

Leeds fans are made up on Twitter after one of their favourite players, Gaetano Berardi, announced that he’d signed a contract extension.

Berardi, whose contract was up next summer, has signed a new three-year deal, and the news was released on the official Leeds Twitter account on Tuesday afternoon.

On hearing the news, Leeds fans took to Twitter to show how happy they were, with some saying he should run for president in 2020.

Here is a selection of their reactions on Twitter:

Berardi is currently injured after dislocating his shoulder in the first Championship game of the season against Bolton on Sunday.

Berardi went off in the 38th minute and was replaced by Vurnon Anita, who helped his new side secure the maximum three points in a 3-2 win.

Centre-back Matthew Pennington also went off inured in the game and it could leave Leeds light at the back, although they have since signed Cameron Borthwick-Jackson on loan from Manchester United.

In other Leeds news, the Whites have suffered a blow as 26-year-old agrees terms with a Premier League outfit.
