Garry Monk has posted a no-holds-barred Twitter message by stating that Leeds simply didn’t perform well during their 3-2 defeat against local rivals Barnsley on Saturday night at Oakwell.
The Whites had won six of their last seven games prior to the defeat in the Yorkshire derby as the dropped points proved to be an unnecessary setback in their promotion hopes.
Monk’s side were last beaten against automatic hopefuls Brighton in early December and they had won their last three matches in all competitions going into this fixture.
Nonetheless, three second half goals from the home team cancelled out Chris Wood’s brace on the night as Paul Heckingbottom’s side take the bragging rights.
After the game, Monk had this message to supporters as posted on his personal Twitter account.
We didn't perform as well as we have been of late, but we're already focused on bouncing back, as we have done before. #MOT

The Whites have dropped down to fourth in the table after that defeat as they are on 48 points from 27 games.
They are one point behind their Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield who beat Ipswich Town earlier on in the day.
Nonetheless, Monk has guided his team to 15 wins from their 27 games this season, drawing three and losing nine.
They have also scored 37 goals during this campaign, conceding 27, with second-placed Brighton holding the best defensive record in the division after shipping just 18 goals.
Monk will now focus his attention on Wednesday where his team will take on Nottingham Forest in front of their own supporters.
