Gary Gardner: This Aston Villa ace can help us get back to the Premier League
By Amir Mir
Gary Gardner believes his Aston Villa teammate Jack Grealish can fire them to the Premier League this season.
The 21-year-old attacking ace hit a stunning late winner against Wigan on Saturday afternoon to secure all three points for his side in their push for promotion.
Steve Bruce’s men were heading for a stalemate at Villa Park against the relegation strugglers, but Grealish produced a moment of magic two minutes before time to curl in an effort from outside the box.
The win helped Villa close the gap on the top six to four points, heading into what will be a busy and important festive period.
Midfielder Gardner, who started the game against the Latics, was full of praise for Grealish when talking to former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore.

“It’s great for Jack and it’s great for the fan to have him here,” Gardner told Call Collymore on December 10. “He’s a class player, his goal against Wigan just sums up the player he is and that is what we needed, a moment of magic and we got it.
“Jack is a top lad and if he keeps working hard, he can help Villa get back to the Premier League.”
A product of the club’s academy, Grealish is highly-rated amongst the senior figures at Villa Park.
He has made 15 Championship appearances for Villa this season, scoring three goals and supplying four assists.
The England under-21 international’s goal on Saturday helped the Midlands side maintain their unbeaten record on home soil this term.
Now, Villa will travel to Carrow Road to take on Alex Neil’s Norwich on Tuesday night, before taking on QPR at Loftus Road on Sunday.
