Gary Lineker makes bold claim about new Everton arrival
By Danny Wright
Gary Lineker has boldly claimed that Jordan Pickford’s club record move to Everton is “cheap” following his impressive performance for England Under-21s against Germany on Tuesday.
The 23-year-old swapped Sunderland for Merseyside in June for a fee which could rise as high as £30million in the future – something which Lineker doesn’t regard as being that much.
Pickford proved inspirational for the Young Lions in the Under-21 European Championship semi-final on Tuesday, but couldn’t help his side from being dumped out of the competition on penalties after holding the Germans to a 2-2 scoreline after extra time.
The new Everton arrival’s stunning display saw him earn all the plaudits after the game, with Match of the Day presenter, and former Everton striker, Lineker taking to his personal Twitter account to deliver his verdict on the ex-Black Cat.
“30 million quid? Cheap,” he said on Tuesday.

Pickford earned his tenth and final cap for the England Under-21s side against Germany as he is now aged 23 and was eligible to play in the Euros this summer as he was 21 or younger when the qualification rounds began.
He was in top form for Sunderland last season, despite their humiliating relegation from the Premier League.
Although the Wearsiders finished bottom of the pile, things would have no doubt been worse for them without Pickford between the sticks as he made 33 appearances across all competitions, keeping five clean sheets.
