Gary Lineker mocks Arsenal after their FA Cup win against Preston

By Amir Mir

Gary Lineker mocked Arsenal by stating that he has not seen them perform “this badly in the first half since their last game against Bournemouth”.

Arsene Wenger’s side conceded three first half goals against the Cherries on Tuesday evening, despite coming back to secure a 3-3 draw in the Premier League encounter.

The Gunners seemed to bring that performance into their 2-1 FA Cup win against Championship side Preston North End at Deepdale.

Preston’s Callum Robinson opened the scoring after seven minutes after the Arsenal backline failed to clear the ball.

That timid defending continued as the home side could have scored a lot more going into the break.

Nonetheless, midfielder Aaron Ramsey equalised after the break with a well-taken shot from outside the box before Olivier Giroud scored another late winner.

Match of the Day host Lineker posted this message on his personal Twitter account on the Gunners display against Preston.

Wenger’s side have produced poor performances away from home in recent weeks, including suffering two defeats.

The north London club suffered back-to-back defeats against Everton and Manchester City in December before that 3-3 draw at Bournemouth in midweek.

As a result, they have not kept a clean sheet on the road in all competitions since their 1-0 win at Burnley in early October.

They will be looking to secure that clean sheet when they take on Premier League strugglers Swansea next Saturday.
