Gary Lineker reacts on Twitter to Emre Can goal for Liverpool

By Amir Mir

Gary Lineker has hailed Emre Can for his “sensational” goal for Liverpool against Watford on Monday evening at Vicarage Road.

The 23-year-old scored a brilliant overhead kick in the first half as his team went on to win the Premier League encounter 1-0.

Can, who was playing a more attacking role during the game, produced the overhead kick whilst also making a run into the penalty area.

The Match of the Day presenter was clearly impressed by the German’s goal as he reacted in this fashion.

Over the course of the season, Can has played 36 games for his side in all competitions, playing a midfield and defensive midfield role throughout the campaign.

He has found the back of the net on a total of five occasions this term, with all his strikes coming during Premier League matches.

Prior to his goal against the Hornets, Can last scored for his side against Burnley in March when he scored from long-range during the 2-1 win on home soil.

Nonetheless, his strike at Vicarage Road means the Reds still have the chance of finishing in the Champions League places at the end of the season.

They are currently sitting in third, four points ahead of fifth-placed Manchester United and three points clear of fourth-placed Manchester City – both teams have a game in hand on their rivals.
