Gerrard having 'sleepless nights' after Aston Villa-Liverpool reveal today - Agbonlahor

Steven Gerrard will be having “sleepless nights” ahead of his return to Liverpool as Aston Villa boss, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer insisted Gerrard “will know how to stop” Jurgen Klopp’s rampant side.

As quoted by Birmingham Live today (10 December), the Villa manager claimed his “only main focus” was trying to win the game.

The 41-year-old did admit he will have a smile on his face upon his return to Anfield.

“Listen, all game Gerrard’s name will be sung by the Liverpool fans,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“He’s one of their greatest ever players, a Scouser and one of their own. It will be a pleasure for Liverpool fans to see him in that dugout.

“Will he celebrate if Villa score? I think he will because you have to put your Liverpool connections aside, you’re now the manager of Aston Villa. Will he run down the line and celebrate? No, it will probably be a little fist bump. He will be respectful because he’s a respectful guy.

“He loved the challenge of facing Pep and Man City and now he’ll love the challenge of facing Klopp.

“Who better than Gerrard to think of tactics to get something out of that Liverpool game? He will know the team inside out, he will know how to stop Liverpool. He will know the exact tactics to give every player.

“He’ll be looking forward to it, he’ll be excited, he’ll be having sleepless nights with excitement before Saturday. A legend like Gerrard going back as manager of another club against Liverpool will be a big day for him.”
