A report has named eight first-team players that new Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is “open to offers” for as the Liverpool icon prepares to officially start at Ibrox on Friday.
According to the Scottish Sun, Wes Foderingham, James Tavernier, Josh Windass and Alfredo Morelos, Lee Hodson, Fabio Cardoso, Andy Halliday and Eduardo Herrera could all move on this summer, with Hodson, Cardoso, Halliday and Herrera “expected” to leave Ibrox.
Kenny Miller will also leave the Gers this summer when his contract ends and club captain Lee Wallace could quickly follow after disciplinary proceedings against him are concluded by the club.
Football Insider verdict:
The only surprise on that list is that others like Joe Dodoo and Harry Forrester aren’t also named as expected departures – although it may be that their exits are a mere formality now. Gerrard hasn’t wasted any time in adding new faces to his squad with Scott Arfield, Allan McGregor and Jamie Murphy signing for the Light Blues in the last few weeks. The Gers have a massively bloated squad and Gerrard will need to clear some of the deadwood out regardless of what other transfer plans the Light Blues have this summer. With the likes of Niko Kranjcar having already left recently and a huge turnover of players likely over the coming weeks, Gerrard’s side could have a very different look to the one that drew 5-5 with Hibs at Easter Road on the final day of the Scottish Premiership. Some of those that the Gers are ‘open to offers’ for could still remain at Ibrox but it wouldn’t be a shock to see two of Foderingham, Tavernier, Windass and Morelos leave.
