Gerrard told to hand Rangers sensation rare start v Livingston after Morelos update - Hutton
Alan Hutton has urged Steven Gerrard to keep Fashion Sakala in the Rangers starting XI for the League Cup clash against Livingston.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender suggested the Ibrox boss should snub the likes of Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe to give the 24-year-old a run of games.
The Colombian was only used as a late substitute against Motherwell on Sunday.
Speed sensation Sakala led the line and scored his first goal for Rangers in a 1-1 draw.
The summer signing has started just twice in seven appearances for Rangers so far.

Despite the importance of Wednesday’s knock-out clash, Rangers TV pundit Hutton insisted the Zambia international should get the nod.
Asked if Gerrard shoud start Sakala over more established strikers, Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I don’t see why he shouldn’t start. I think he’s done enough to warrant it.
“Obviously he’s scoring as well. He does give you something different from what they’ve got.
“We know Morelos has had a little niggly hamstring injury. You don’t want to push him if you don’t have to.
“I think it’s a case of just keep going with Sakala. He needs the game time. He needs to bed in, get used to his surroundings and let him work from there.
“With every performance and every appearance, he will get better. He will understand how Rangers want to play and what’s expected of him.
“When you talk about what he actually gives to the team, his energy, his enthusiasm, it’s absolutely brilliant.”
