Gibbs-White reacts to Murillo’s see you’ post amid Nottingham Forest exit links

Morgan Gibbs-White reacted to a message from Nottingham Forest teammate Murillo amid rumours of an exit this summer.

The Tricky Trees looked to be in pole position to qualify for Champions League football this season, but a miserable run of form at the wrong time has seen them collect just three wins from their last eight games.

In that time, Chelsea, Newcastle, and Aston Villa have all found their own form, and Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have slipped from third down to seventh.

As a consequence, Forest are now reliant on results going in their favour, whilst also claiming a win against Enzo Maresca’s Blues in their final game of the season, or else they may have to settle for Europa League football.

With several of their players garnering interest from European powerhouses, the Garibaldis risk losing the core of their squad if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Murillo sends message to Nottingham Forest fans ahead of Chelsea clash

Following Nottingham Forest’s crucial 2-1 win over West Ham, Murillo shared several images on Instagram, captioned: “Wonderful victory as well as our performance, we’ll see you on Sunday for the most important game of the season. We hope to see you all there. COYR”.

The post was liked by Man City target Gibbs-White, showing his support for the Brazilian defender.

Murillo garnering interest from Chelsea and Liverpool

Football Insider Verdict

Mick Brown revealed exclusively to Football Insider that both Chelsea and Liverpool were interested in Murillo.

The Brazilian defender arrived at the City Ground as a relatively unknown prospect, having made just 27 senior appearances for Corinthians before he was signed for £15million [BBC Sport] in 2023.

But during his time in England, the 22-year-old has become an integral part of Forest’s side, whilst also making his Brazil debut.

Murillo’s proactive style of defending and a willingness to take long-range shots have made him a fan favourite in Nottingham.

However, if the Tricky Trees fail to qualify for the Champions League, the defender may find the proposition of moving to a club who are competing in said competition too tempting to turn down.
