Gibbs-White responds to Chris Wood’s message after Tottenham pounding
Nottingham Forest beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 on Monday courtesy of yet another goal from striker Chris Wood.
Forest fired themselves back into pole position in the five-team race for three Champions League places, with two goals inside the first 16 minutes enough to see off a fightback from Ange Posteocglou’s side.
Elliot Anderson’s opener from a fifth-minute corner was followed up by Wood’s header from an Anthony Elanga cross just 11 minutes later, between which the 33-year-old had seen an offside goal disallowed.
As a result, Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side climb up to third in the Premier League table after their previous drop to sixth place on goal difference, with back-to-back defeats to Everton and Aston Villa last week.

Morgan Gibbs-White sends ‘the best’ message to Chris Wood
After they’d taken a 2-0 lead in no time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Forest elected to sit back for a large portion of the contest but were able to keep Spurs at arm’s length until Richarlison’s late header.
Tottenham fans – not for the first time this term – won’t be pleased with their goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario‘s attempts to keep out both goals, but Wood’s clinical nature in front of goal is there for all to see.

Wood’s 19th goal of the season elevates him to fourth in the Premier League Golden Boot race, and after his potential 20th was denied by an offside shoulder, the Forest striker clearly has plenty more to give.
Forest’s leading frontman posted on Instagram at full-time (21 April) with the message of: “Big win away from home! One game at a time.”
Morgan Gibbs-White was under no illusions as to the importance of Wood in Espirito Santo’s side, and responded by saying: “Doing what you do best”.
Nottingham Forest plan for future without Chris Wood
Although Wood‘s goals have fired Forest up the table this season and on course for Europe, Reds fans are aware the 33-year-old will need back-up next season, if not an upgrade in the number nine role.
Football Insider revealed last month that Evangelos Marinakis wants Forest to compete with Europe’s elite sides for Victor Osimhen this summer, but that may be a stretch even with the finances available.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Brentford’s Yoane Wissa is a more realistic and likely addition for the Tricky Trees, and he could prove to be a perfect foil for Wood up front.
