Giggs: I have changed my mind about Liverpool's title chances in 2017-18
By Harry Sykes
Ryan Giggs has predicted that Liverpool can challenge for the Premier League title this season after doing some “decent” summer transfer business.
The Merseysiders signed Mohamed Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Dominic Solanke and Andrew Robertson as they spent more than £90million on new acquisitions.
Crucially, Jurgen Klopp’s side also managed to withstand concerted interest in Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona, who tabled a series of jaw-dropping bids for the playmaker.
Manchester United legend Giggs admitted he did not rate Liverpool’s title chances earlier in the summer but he has changed his mind following their window deals.
However, he questioned whether either Simon Mignolet or Loris Karius is of the requisite calibre for a title-challenging team.

“I didn’t fancy Liverpool before the season started, but they’ve made some decent buys and kept [Philippe] Coutinho which is a boost for them,” Giggs told ESPN FC.
“To win the league you need a top goalkeeper and you wonder have they got that? That would be the only question, but after the business they’ve done I’ve probably changed my mind a little bit and they will be in the mix.”
In other Liverpool news, Luis Garcia has hailed an Anfield summer signing as so good he could be worth £275million next summer.
