Gil tipped to start for Tottenham against Aston Villa in two major changes - pundit

Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Bryan Gil and Oliver Skipp to start for Tottenham against Aston Villa.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker slammed Spurs’ “stars” who do not show enough passion for the club.

Gil and Skipp both started against NS Mura in the Europa Conference League after impressing when coming off the bench against Arsenal.

Skipp, 21, had started the opening four games of the Premier League season before being replaced by Tanguy Ndombele in Nuno Espirito Santo’s starting XI.

Gil, 20, a summer signing from Sevilla, is yet to earn his first league start but Agbonlahor has suggested that could change on Sunday.

He told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley: “The big thing for Nuno and what I got out of the game against Arsenal is he is probably looking at his players and working out who he can rely on and who is with him.

“The changes that he made worked. If I’m him now, Skipp starts and Gil starts. Players that are going to run around for you.

“It’s alright having stars but against Aston Villa, if I’m him, I’m playing Skipp and Gil. They’re players that look like they want to play for the club.

“That’s what he’s still working out. Which players are with him and which players are against him?

“He has to be given time. It’s only six games in and he’s got nine points.

“Spurs fans and Spurs ex-players just want to see the team show some sort of passion for the club.”

In other news, a Tottenham insider has revealed Daniel Levy’s plans to sack Nuno and replace him with Mauricio Pochettino.
