'Give him a go', 'Odd one' - Celtic fans react as 28-year-old is reported set for exit
Celtic fans on Twitter have been reacting to the news that Cristian Gamboa is set to leave the Hoops in the summer, according to reports.
The Scottish Sun is reporting that the 28-year-old, who is set to play for Costa Rica in the World Cup, is set to leave the Hoops and that he is so far out of the picture that he went on a family holiday in the build-up to the recent Scottish Cup semi-final.
Gamboa has only made three appearances for the Bhoys this season, and manager Brendan Rodgers seems to have completely lost faith in the player he signed only last season.
Despite the indifferent form of Mikael Lustig and the injury problems of Anthony Ralston, Rodgers has decided to keep Gamboa’s involvement in the Hoops side to a minimum.
Here are some of the best reactions from Twitter to the news of Gamboa’s impending exit:
I think Gamboa is decent. Should get some game time https://t.co/ZqkJ2yZasg

The whole Gamboa thing with Celtic is an odd one. Been impressed most of the times I've seen him play, and it's not as though Lustig has been good enough to warrant staying in the team week-in, week-out.

I don’t know if Gamboa is a player but I don’t think he has been given a chance if crap get rid but at least give him a go

Really struggling to understand the logic if this. The team is screaming out for a right full back. He is at very worst an able defender in the spfl. Cutting our nose off to spite our face with the refusal to play him.

Has Gamboa ever had a sustained run in the team during his time at Celtic? I can't think of playing more than a handful of games then dropped out

He has a Celtic career?

Don't think it takes a holiday to marbella to work out his celtic career is over – only made 2 apps all season. Definitely deserved a chance especially since Lustig has been poor majority of the season.

The Hoops boss seemed to lose all faith in Gamboa after a poor performance in the Champions League group stages against Bayern Munich, but in all honesty the player was only selected for that game because of an injury crisis.
