‘A brilliant player’ - Giggs urges Manchester United to sign 28-year-old PL contract rebel

By Aramide Oladipo

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs believes that his former club should sign Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez this summer.

The 28-year-old Chilean’s contract runs out at the end of the following season and he has still not confirmed whether he intends to stay at the Emirates Stadium.

Sanchez has been Arsenal’s best player this season by far, with 26 goals in all competitions, but it has been in the Premier League where the Chilean has shone, surpassing 20 goals for the first time since his arrival, and adding 10 assists.

Jose Mourinho is after a new striker after Zlatan Ibrahimovic suffered a serious injury towards the tailend of the season that could end his career.

Speaking with the Manchester Evening News, Giggs believes that Sanchez would be a perfect fit at Manchester Unite.

“[He’s] a brilliant player. His work rate, the effect he has on his team-mates, a winner,” he said.

“Jose Mourinho bought Ibrahimovic because he is a winner. He’d won everywhere he’d gone. Not only the effect on the pitch but off the pitch as well.

You can just feel that Sanchez would give his team-mates a lift.”

Manchester United have struggled to score goals this season, with their 52 strikes the lowest out of all the top-seven sides.

Arsenal are currently above Manchester United in the Premier League and can widen the gap to an unassailable seven points with a victory over Sunderland at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.

Sanchez is a slight doubt for the match as he picked up a knock in Arsenal’s 4-1 victory over Stoke on the weekend.

In other Arsenal news, Ray Parlour has urged the board to sign up this attacking duo.
