Shay Given has revealed that if the right investor takes over from Mike Ashley at Newcastle United, the club could sign players like Alexis Sanchez.
In an interview with the Daily Star, the retired goalkeeper seemed to laugh about the thought of Sanchez going to the Magpies before explaining that it could happened depending on the amount of money invested.
“If the investors come in and have got endless amounts of money, they could sign [Alexis] Sanchez, for example,” said Given.
The former goalkeeper continued referring to the fact it was a surprise when Robinho moved to Manchester City after they experienced a heavy cash injection from new owners.
While Given admitted that Sanchez might not want to move a club near the bottom of the table, he said you never know – especially when money’s involved.
However, Given went on to add that with the right level of investment the Magpies could eventually win the league instead of being in the bottom half.
Currently, Newcastle United are 15th in the Premier League with 15 points, five points above the relegation zone ahead of playing Leicester City on Saturday.
The Magpies have not won any of their last six league games, slumping to defeat in five of them.
As it stands, Amanda Staveley and her PCP partners have yet to make second offer for Newcastle United after their first offer was rejected according to a report.
In other Newcastle United transfer news, Magpies fans have fumed over the possibility of a January swoop for this legendary talent.
