Alan Hutton admits he will be glad to see the back of Tom Rogic after his impressive performances for Celtic against Rangers.
The former Gers and Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, insists the 27-year-old has proven himself as a “special” talent, especially in the games between the two Glasgow rivals.
As revealed by Football Insider, the Hoops are closing in on a deal to cash in on the Australia international after a £3.6million bid from Qatar.
Rogic is yet to feature for the Bhoys this season and he made just 22 appearances across all competitions during the 2019/20 campaign.
Hutton admits he will not miss Rogic at all on derby day but insists a move to Qatar would be a big step down for a player of his quality.
Hutton told Football Insider: “On his day I think he can be special. He’s always played well against Rangers so obviously I’m glad to see the back of him for that.
“It’s definitely a step down, the club’s that are being talked about. Then again, is he getting a big wage packet? We don’t know. Could that be what’s tempting him over there? Probably.
“I think he’s a very good player and all the Celtic fans will as well but he’s maybe had his time now, time to move on and maybe bring in some fresh faces.”
Rogic has won 10 of the 12 games he has played against Rangers, with five goals to his name on derby day.
He has a total of 189 appearances under his belt for the Bhoys, as well as 46 caps for Australia.
In other Celtic news, it can be REVEALED the club have held more talks over a Premier League signing.
