Glen Kamara backed to stay at Rangers after source’s ‘fee’ reveal – expert

Alan Hutton has backed Glen Kamara to stay at Rangers next season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers right-back said the decision ultimately lies with Kamara but believes he will be an integral part of the club next season.

On 27 March, sources told this site that Nantes are still keen on signing the 27-year-old this summer after a deal fell through last year.

The Finland international’s current contract runs until 2025 after signing an extension in 2021.

The midfielder has enjoyed a return to the side under Michael Beale after falling down the pecking order when previous boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst was in charge.

The Gers could be faced with a midfield exodus in the summer with Scott Arfield, Steven Davis and Ryan Jack all out of contract in the summer and able to leave for free.

Hutton insisted Rangers won’t want to let another midfielder leave, especially one who isn’t out of contract.

I think Michael Beale will want to keep him around,” he told Football Insider.

You look at the players that they could possibly be losing from the midfield, do they want another? Probably not. I would like to see him stay but I really think the decision is going to come down to him.

“Michael Beale has come in, he really likes him, he knows him from his previous time with him under [Steven] Gerrard.

He has played a lot of football since Beale came in and is obviously a key part of that team.

Rangers

I think the ball is really in his court, does he want to leave? Does he want a fresh challenge? That is up to him.

He is not out of contract so there will have to be a fee. So it is going to be down to Rangers whether they want to take it or not.
