Exclusive: Chelsea tipped to sell mainstay at 'Massive loss' to PSG

Darren Bent has tipped Chelsea to sell Kepa Arrizabalaga for a “massive loss” this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Tottenham and England striker insists that the shot-stopper has cost the Blues points with his performances this season.

As revealed by Football Insider earlier this month, Lampard is looking to bin the 25-year-old this summer and replace him with a new number one goalkeeper.

This site has since revealed that the Blues boss was “fuming” with the senior mainstay after the 5-3 defeat to Liverpool.

Bent claims that Kepa’s days are numbered at Stamford Bridge and that Lampard is going to have to take a huge financial hit to get him out the door.

Asked if it was inevitable the keeper would be on his way, Bent told Football Insider: “Yeah, that’s a big issue. You look at the two top teams in the division – Liverpool and City – they’ve got two world-class keepers who cost a fraction of the price, by the way.

“Both are outstanding goalkeepers, make big saves, good with their feet and you can tell they really made a difference in their team whereas Kepa, he’s cost them points. They need to address it.”

Asked if Chelsea could afford to take a big loss after signing the stopper for £71million, Bent said: “They’re going to have to because there’s no one out there who’s going to spend £71million for Kepa.

“Automatically you go to someone like PSG, they’ve got all the money, the could go out and buy someone but they’re more inclined to go for someone like De Gea rather than Kepa because he’s still a good goalkeeper and still makes unbelievable saves.

“I think they’re going to have to take a massive loss on him, unfortunately.”
