St Johnstone goalkeeper Ross Sinclair has headed to Liverpool for a trial, according to a report.
The Liverpool Echo claims that Sinclair, 17, has also been joined by Mallorca winger Angel Sanchez on a trial period at the Merseyside club with a potential double deal on the cards for the summer transfer window.
It is understood that the pair have been training with Neil Critchley’s Under-23s side.
Sinclair arrives as being one of the highest-rated young Scottish goalkeepers from St Johnstone, who finished the season eighth in the Scottish Premiership this season.
Football Insider verdict
Liverpool look set to continue snapping up young players from across Europe as the club aim on strengthening the youth squads. Sinclair is a very highly-rated young shot-stopper and is bound to have a decent career. Will it be at Liverpool? Who knows, but Jurgen Klopp does need a new goalkeeper in his first team for next season. Sanchez, 20, is a more developed young player having played a major role in Mallorca’s B team this season. He has appeared 32 times for the Spanish club’s reserves and scored three goals. The winger can also play up front or in a more central role, but he is usually played on the left wing. It is understood that he is out of contract in the summer so Liverpool could be getting him for a really cheap deal. Both look like decent young players and hopefully we will be seeing them in the first-team in the next few years.
