Former Hearts man Jose Goncalves believes that Portland Timbers ace Darlington Nagbe would be a very good player for Celtic, if he signs.
The Daily Mail claimed the 26-year-old was given a Stadium tour of Parkhead on Tuesday and watched the Hoops Champions League clash against Barcelona on Wednesday.
The United States international is relatively unknown, playing in America his whole career.
However, Goncalves, who has played in the MLS for the past three years believes that Nagbe could become a star at the famous Scottish club.
“He is one of the most exciting players in the MLS,” started Goncalves, speaking to the Scottish Sun.
“In the first year I came here, I saw Darlington and I knew he had the quality to move on to another top league.
“He’s a very good player and has good ability on the ball and he’s also got good technique.
“He is the type of player who looks for the forward pass, he is not someone who is looking to go from side to side.
“He can penetrate very quickly and moves fast with and without the ball at his feet.
“He’s definitely a player who could adapt to the Scottish game, because the way he plays he is similar to Scottish football, the tempo is high.
“He is always looking for the through ball and gives 100 per cent and I think he can be a very good player for Celtic.”
Nagbe has established himself as one of the best players in the MLS and played in 28 fixtures last season, which brought a return of one goal and five assists.
He was part of the MLS All-Star team that lost 2-1 to Arsenal during pre-season, which contained the likes of Didier Drogba, Sebastian Giovinco and David Villa.
The 10-time capped international would be a welcome addition to Celtic and his versatility across the midfield will prove a huge asset, as he occupied the right, left and central midfield positions last season.
Celtic are currently on course for their sixth league title in a row, but for the moment their attentions have turned to Sunday’s Scottish League Cup final against Aberdeen.
