Rangers attacker Glenn Middleton is “loving it” at Ibrox after his deadline day move from Norwich City – and hopes he can get an opportunity to shine in the first-team after hitting the ground running with the Under-20s.
The flying winger scored twice in Tuesday’s 4-0 win over Icelandic side Breidablik as the Light Blues continued their Games Programme to add to his burgeoning reputation at Ibrox.
Middleton admitted that “you never know” what could happen in the future as he works his way towards a first-team place and revealed that he is “happier” than he was at Norwich before his move.
“You never know what can happen.
“I think mentally I’m just a bit happier being in the environment that I am in and it’s a good place to be.
“Everyone enjoys doing what they do every day, so yeah it’s a good place.”
Middleton is highly-rated for both club and country and many were surprised that the teenager was allowed to move on from Norwich in January.
The Scotland Under-19 international joined Myles Beerman and Stephen Kelly on the scoresheet as the Light Blues youngsters picked up another impressive win.
Football Insider verdict:
Middleton has really impressed since his arrival from Norwich and depending on how results go over the next few weeks then he could get a chance in the first-team before the season ends. There’s still plenty of time though and if he doesn’t make the step up this season it should barely register as he continues his ascent. The 18-year-old looks destined for the first-team sooner or later though and will be someone who will get fans excited as they track his progress.
